OUR INSTRUCTORS

Cathy Stolpin
Kathy Stolpin, The Needleworks head instructor, was born in Flint, Michigan. She attended Mott Community College and the University of Michigan Flint. Kathy majored in Biology, Education and Drama which uniquely qualifies her to teach needlework (right!)

She’s been teaching creative needlepoint for 22 years and 20 of those years have been spent at the Needleworks. Kathy has studied with Chottie Alderson, Jean Hilton, Joyce Lukomski, Jane Zimmerman as well as several other nationally recognized needle art instructors. She has won many awards in needlework shows including a blue ribbon awarded at an ANG national show.

Kahty’s husband, Bill, is a fine art printmaker. His 27 year association with DAS Print Co. has given Kathy a unique perspective in working with color and composition. This perspective, teamed with her natural sense for texture and technique, gives her students a rich teaching experience.

Students enjoy her relaxed classroom atmosphere and personable teaching style as evidenced by her large following of students.

Sally Baughman
Sally Baughman is the long-time owner of The Needleworks. Having sold the store, she is now focused on using her 15+ years of needle arts experience to help others learn and enjoy the craft she loves so much. Sally has a unique ability to work with colors and a wide variety of stitches to help students learn while having fun, no matter what their skill level may be.
